Through hands-on cooking sessions, participants can easily master local preparation methods, discover unique ingredients, and develop an appreciation for traditional flavors.

The culinary instruction takes place under the guidance of a local village woman, supported by her family members, creating an intimate and welcoming household atmosphere. This authentic setting fosters genuine connections and provides participants with a true taste of Sri Lankan hospitality while learning from experienced home cooks.

This approach cultivates a sense of belonging and comfort while ensuring the preservation and sharing of ancestral cooking wisdom. Participants gain direct exposure to age-old preparation techniques and indigenous ingredients that define village cuisine, creating memories that extend far beyond the kitchen.

Our cooking classes - overview

These hands-on workshops illustrate the simplicity of preparing nutritious, flavorful, and budget-friendly dishes using fresh, regional produce. Choosing local ingredients also helps strengthen community businesses while minimizing environmental impact.

  • Three daily sessions available (each session runs 3.5 hours) Morning: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM / Afternoon: 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM / Evening: 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Up to 40 learners accommodated per session
  • Market excursion for ingredient shopping available as an add-on experience
